HAIR MODELING:Â NOT JUST A PRETTY FACE!
 As we are all aware, a trip to the salon can leave you with a new lease on life! But, it can also burn a hole in your purse. So becoming a hair model was an easy decision for me…
I was approached by a friend to become her hair model while she completed her 4th year apprenticeship with one of Perth’s finest salons. I was not paid for my time as it was always in return for free styling, treatments and products. What more could a girl ask for?
I have always maintained flexibility in my style and fashion.  And personally, I think that is the key to hair modeling. Flexibility in style and fashion, strong/coarse hair in good condition and patience is definitely a virtue. I was always told that they are vital, along with a steady head and of course, a pretty face.
Spending at least 4 hours a fortnight with your head in the basin, or in the salon or the training room, can leave your peers thinking you are in fact leading a double life. My hair has been long, short, mid length, shoulder length, straight, permed, light brown, bright red, chocolate brown, blonde, auburn, punked, banged, layered, dry, brittle and blow dried to perfection. All of which you can expect if indeed you are a secret agent, oops, I mean a hair model.
I honestly believe hair modeling is not for the faint hearted or just the pretty faced. There are so many different elements to this type of modeling.  Hair competitions for instance or advertising which both can be a pretty grueling experience. I will touch on hair competitions and how best to prepare yourself for the competitiveness from the model’s perspective in my next post along with a touch of my personal experience.Â
If you think I am going to give you the solution to sleek golden hair, then think again. If you think I have the solution to that perfect curl, then think again. That I shall leave to the experts, for I am just the model.
